文化を奨励する日で、皇居では文化功労者に勲章が授与されます。全国各地でこの日またはその前後に文化的な催し物が行われます。かつては明治天皇の誕生日を祝う明治節でした。
【Culture Day】
It is a day for promoting culture. People of cultural merit are awarded medals at the Imperial Palace. Many cultural events are held throughout the nation on or around this day. Formerly is was a national holiday called “Meiji-setsu” commemorating the birthday of Emperor Meiji who was born on November 3, 1852.
