海の恩恵、その重要性に感謝と敬意を払い、海洋国日本の繁栄を祈願する日です。国民の祝日となる前は「海の記念日」として知られてきました。
【Marine Day】
It is a day for expressing gratitude for the bounty of the sea, honoring its importance and praying for the prosperity of Japan as a maritime nation. Prior to it becoming a national holiday, this day had been known as “Marine Memorial Day” since 1941.
